In the heart of the Alabama Black Belt, on the eastern edge of Marengo County, sits the Town of Thomaston.  On State Highway 25 (Range Street) a stones throw from downtown is the Alabama Rural Heritage Center, anchoring the Historic Marengo County High School Campus.

The Project is 30 miles from Greensboro, as well as 30 miles from Newbern, World Headquarters of Auburn's Rural Studio.
