the help of a $400,000 grant from
HUD--$190,000 of which is going toward construction--the people of Thomaston are using the Alabama Rural
Heritage Foundation to help stimulate economic development
by creating jobs to strengthen the community. The HUD grant
is being applied to the renovation and construction of a new
headquarters building for the RHF, which includes a gift
shop, commercial kitchen, packaging room, and vegetable
cleaning/processing. A separate grant was awarded for a
pavilion/deck to be used by the community as part of the
RHC's new building. Both projects have already begun.
